All that is true, but it makes no difference. You have government health care that you like and that you defend. Period.

See my other postings. The VA is an EARNED benefit and the agency is kept honest by a hyperactive Veterans' Lobby. Quite different from some welfare slum-hole. The VA is a quality act but would not be so if it were not for the American Legion and the like.
