The Braun medium format filmscanner you linked to is way beyond my
“Schmerzgrenze” [pain threshold] for what I am willing to pay for a scanner.
I bought a used Epson Perfection 4870 PHOTO last March, which is one model
above the scanner I had in Vermont until 2012. It came with all the fim holder
from 35mm to 4 x 5 and worked flawlessly for about half a year until it
suddenly conked out.
I can’t find anybody in Germany who is willing to work on it. And the Epson
service gives me the classic “built-in-obsolescence” response: "No more parts,
buy a new one!" Very annoying.
Unfortunately, due to Corona, there are also no repair cafés open right now,
where I could give it a try with some guidance. The current Epson scanner with
the same features is Epson V800 or V850.

I do a lot of business with Fotoimpex. I really appreciate their dedication
to analogue materials. I have a Swedish supplier with the same focus, but not
quite the same extensive inventory.
On these, I took a reading for 400, but then opened up a tad, probably about
a third of a stop. I think most of the time I could take a reading for 1/250
and just use 1/200 and the same for the other speeds.
I developed another roll last night taken in flat light, even one at the
inevitable kitchen table at home, 1/25 @ 2.8.
One thing about Fomapan 400 is that it wants to roll back up. Right now it is
rolled against the tendency and stuffed inside the tube left over from a roll
of kitchen paper towels. A few hours usually helps.
This is the first roll I scanned with my new scanner, a Braun FS-120 film
scanner. I bought it from:

The Reflecta MF-5000 comes from the same OEM (Pacific Image ...) but Scandig
gave the Braun a decisive edge, so I went with it. The price is the same.
Not 100% sure it is worth the extra cost compared to a flatbed. My Epson 2450
is at least 18 years old (I used it in my first paw 2002) and I was starting
to feel a little worried about getting a good replacement. I tried the Epson
V600 (cheap) but it went back on the shelf. I figured that if I tried the
V850 and was unhappy, I'd be edging up to the cost of a dedicated film
scanner. They have been coming and going out of stock, so when it came back,
I went with it.
