Thanks much, Marc.

Patton is a most fascinating creature, and the movie does him well, albeit his voice was high-pitched and often squeaky. He recounted that the only time he had been afraid under enemy fire was his first exposure and that he could not admit that as plodding along beside him was Douglas MacArthur, the 42nd Division's "Hell for Breakfast Baby". So, Patton just walked along and did the job as assigned.

Patton was wounded in WWI, to his chagrin in the backside, by an artillery shell bursting behind him.

Patton almost certainly suffered from repetitive cerebral edemae caused by his frequent falls while playing wild-man polo; this may explain his erratic behavior during the Second World War.
