I need to understand somethings before I can determine if I can aid with your question.

How did you scan with PS5?

What kind of edits did you make to a PDF file?

What do you mean by scanning a PDF file?

Thanks for any clarification you can give,

Thanks. Here were the steps:

First, I opened Photoshop Five. Then I went to File and Open or New (I forget). Then it asked for source, and I answered outside or the like, and it then asked me which TWAIN version I wished to use. I believe my latest TWAIN is 5.2? I would hit that. It would then call up TWAIN and I would scan the document. Then I would close the TWAIN window and would be able to edit the document and/or to save it. I could save it in a number of formats: JPG, BMP, &c.

PDF is important as I am trying to develop a package for a job application which has to be submitted electronically and which has to be in PDF. The job is not that critical but the failure of Photoshop Five IS important, as is the failure of my computer to automatically load program disks as program disks.

There are workarounds. My wife's computer doesn't have these problems but, then, the scanner has a special card (SCSI?) and she frowns whenever I dissect her darling computer. In the end, there is a software problem here, and I simply need to know which program to access and which switch to switch to make all joyful again. I do believe that it is that simple.

And I would love to know what this TEATIMER.EXE program would be ...
