Cannondale have their headquarters here in Connecticut. The dealers all
complain that Cannondale doesn't treat them well.
The company that seems to do many things well is Specialized. I find
them innovative and reliable.

If I were seriously into bike-racing, yes, the best is
worth it, and those European fiber-frames and the like are worth the
funds, as are tube tyres and all the rest. But for simply puttering down

10-speed or better and get toe clips, but much of the rest is so much
nonsense.
It is funny to see how though can differ on the other side of the pond. I
personally find the US brand first class. For aluminum bikes, nothing beats a
pre-Trek Klein; titanium, it's a Seven or a Merlin you got to have; carbon it's
a Kestrel you gotta have.
I'm more a stiff and light weight person so I own a Klein and a Cannondale :)
