Yes, I do remember the metal plate. The problem only occurred once in a while as I remember. I have two SS tanks/reels I would like to use, but they are so frustrating to load. Maybe I should try one of the Hewes reels to see if they are easier. The two I have are Nikor and Omega. These reels look identical and both are difficult to load. The Jobo I use now is very easy to load.
