Inkjets can provide a broader gamut than optical printing, but that is not all there is to a print. I find inkjet prints more successful with color images than b/w images, and only those inkjets using multi-tonal b/w inks approach the qualities of an optical or optical/digital print. That's not to say that any of these media are "bad", but they are distinctly different.
