Eric: The Distagon design was necessary for this 80mm "standard" lens because its greater back focus allows to the lens itself to be in front of the shutter, I don't know about others Distagon designs for "normal" or "standard" lenses. This page has several SL 66 lenses diagrams (the Planar 2.8/80 is above the Distagon 4/80), you could compare both lenses, anyway they are little diagrams, I could scan some bigger ones for my blog: http://www.sl66.com/pg/lens_index.shtml Carlos 2010/6/7 Eric Goldstein <egoldste@xxxxxxxxx>: > Carlos - > > It would be interesting to compare the block diagrams of the 80 Planar > and the 80 Distagon... are there any other Distagon "normal" lenses > available for any camera to your knowledge? > > > Eric Goldstein > > -- > > On Mon, Jun 7, 2010 at 12:12 PM, CarlosMFreaza <cmfreaza@xxxxxxxxx> > wrote: (snipped) > >> It came with the Zeiss Distagon 4/80 lens provided with independent >> Compur leaf shutter (the lens is in pristine condition), this shutter >> is wide open in the standard position and then the lens regularly >> works in conjuction with the camera focal plane shutter as for any >> other lens.
