Ed:

Well, I thought it was h.k. because of his chop on the bottom of a few tests.
Serves me right for posting without cracking open my big book of photocopied
Modern Photography tests - and sure enough, there is 'DLM' at the bottom of '4
different rolleis, 4 different lenses' and 'mutar means more lenses for
rolleis'. Was that you?

I believe all of the tests I have for Rolleis came in a few months sometime
between 1962 and 1965. I neglected to write down the dates when I photocopied
them.

I've carefully collected all your tests of Rollei, Leica and Nikon lenses, and
have found them very accurate in predicting the real world quality of the
lenses in question. In many ways, I find your simple ratings by f-stop
(acceptable-good-very good-excellent) more usable than the stuff we get now via
imatest, etc.

It’s a great pleasure to be able to thank you 'in person' for your fine work,
which has given me much pleasure over the years.

Thank you!

P.S. 'H.K.' is the chop at the end of the original review of the 2.8e and the
new 3.5, back in '57 or so. That review did not include a 'formal' lens test,
although H.K. did informal evaluations of each.

Ah Ed-the golden age of photography. Before the advent of digital and the
democratization of the poor image. 50s and 60s were a pretty good era for
pugilism too.

Regards,

Marvin.

what is the time frame of the test you are referring to? I did the tests during
the time 1957 to 1965.
