Pentax produced some very good 35mm pro camera systems for the M42
thread specially, the first camera with TTL lightmeter was the Pentax
Spomatic in 1964 and some excellent lenses too, Takumar and Super
Takumar lenses like the 50mm 1.4 SMC  are considered a classic, a
"gem" and among the bests 50mm lenses ever made, Richard Avedon used a
Pentax camera at the earlier '60s when he needed a long Tele lens. In
spite of the very good Bayonet K and the SMC multicoating lenses
process, Pentax almost abandoned the 35mm cameras professional market
for a long time due to its interest about the MF systems reflected in
the Pentax 6x7 and the Pentax 645 ( true competitions for Hasselblad
and Rollei SLR cameras) ; anyway they always manufactured excellent
lenses for 35mm cameras; even SMC Pentax zoom lenses are good and
practical to obtain images like these and other samples:
