Don't laugh ;-)

I purchased a Mini Rolleiflex TLR 'toy' camera which takes Minox film
(http://www.sha-ran.co.jp/net-shop.htm) and I put it in my display
cabinet. The other day I thought I would try it out and compare the
results to a Minox and a Rollei MiniDigi (I know which would be better
but by how much......?). I shot half the film in a Minox B and swapped
the cartridge over to the Mini half way through. None of the Mini frames
came out but the Minox ones were fine.

The Mini shutter seems to fire but it looks as if the two blades fire
together when the shutter is released. A 'hole' moves across behind the
lens but it is not 'open'; probably due to a misplaced spring or some
obstruction. It is not possible to look through the film gate because it
is constructed in a similar manner to a true Minox in that there is just
the slot edge on, that the film passes through.

Has anyone had any experiences? I have read that the lenses and shutters
vary considerably on these miniatures.

My mottos:
- "if there's a screw, its meant to come out" and
- "if it doesn't work now and it still doesn't work after I've taken it
to pieces and put it back together; I've lost or gained nothing" led me
to the point that inside the casing, the 'camera' part is a plastic unit
which I suspect is common to all the Sharan miniatures for Leica, Nikon
and Contax cameras. The linkages for shutter and film wind being
specific to the miniature model's outer casing.

I took most of the outer case off (viewfinder top, bottom, film cover
side and lens panel) but got stuck at the point that the 'plastic
camera' housing is fitted to the plastic rear face of the miniature and
the wind-on gearing is fitted to the adjacent plastic side. I can find
no tell-tale signs as to how these are fixed to the cast metal shell.
Because the gearing for the wind leaver is intermeshed with the gearing
on 'plastic camera' housing, these two elements must be separated at
right angles (ideally the film wind side first) to avoid damage. Any
ideas?

Regards

John
