I actually received a notice stating I was now 1A sent to me while in
Vietnam. I remember sending the notice back with "come get me" scribbled on
it. This was even after I informed my local draft board I was enlisting.

I entered Basic Training in Ft. Leonard Wood a few days before I turned
18. The SS actually sent a notice to me AT MY UNIT informing me that I
was required to register and if I didn't do so I was in danger of being
"denied student financial aid, loans, or grants; vocational training
under WIA; government employment; and security clearances, etc..." This
was one of my first experiences with how well integrated the DoD machine
is and how flawlessly all of those several agencies within it work
together.
<yes...sarcasm.>

Be well,
Michael
