Hi:

I found when LOADing a film, the counter, which, at times, did not begin to start counting, resulted in the whole film to going through. And the solution was to put a little momentary pressure on the feeler roller, and the counter was engaged. May bd useful for someone who has this problem. Regards, John

That suggests that the mechanism may be getting stiff due to old lubricant. The feeler roller is normally adjusted so that it will trip on paper backing even without the extra thickiness of the tape. There is an adjustment for the roller inside the camera. Its also possible for it to have drifted off with time. Generally, when this problem occurs its a sign that the camera needs an overhaul.
