Russian cameras do not enjoy a good reputation, particularly when compared to 
Japanese and German quality. 
One can understand that it seems so politicaly incorrect to say that but the 
plain facts of most peoples experience testitfy that their cameras are not 
great.

The Praktika from East Germany had great lenses. I had one that took wonderful 
photos.  I understand some of the Russian cameras were good, too. So much for 
generalizations.
