The Law of Diminishing Returns states that you pay 95% more to close from 90% to 95% perfection. Optical quality mandates quality prices. There are several Japanese firms -- Asahi pops to mind -- which routinely offer goods equal to those of Zeiss but, then, they cost like Zeiss. It is a matter of simple economics.
