My favourite
camera for travel is the Rolleiflex T, as I think represents the best
compromise between weight and performance. I prefer it over the Rolleicord
because
of the crank for cocking the shutter and advance the film in one movement. Also
I don’t like Rolleicord focusing knob to be in the right of the camera, as
focusing with the left hand and firing with the right is second nature for me.
On the other hand, I am not particularly fond of the EV system and the single
lever that set diaphragms and shutter speeds in the T models, but is just a
matter to get accustomed to it.
Besides,
the Tessar is a really terrific lens. Stopped down to f:8 and beyond I can’t
see in my pictures any difference with its better siblings.

There is a lot of weight difference in various models of the
same time. Partly the lens partly differences in the winding
mechanisim and other things. I can't tell for certain from the
two I compared but looks like the basic chassis could be the
same. Certainly the chassis design changed over time, 1960s are
different from 1930s.
In general the weight went up: the lightest Rollei I have is
an "old standard", next a Rolleicord IV, the two about the same.
The heaviest one I have is a 2.8E. I would have to measure them
again but the difference is quite noticeable.
I still think the Rolleicord IV is closest to an optimum
camera, relatively light, has good ergonomics, easy to load and
has the features that are most usable. Sometimes the self-timer
on a camera is of use but adds some weight as does a built-in
light meter. Probably the largest contributor to weight is the
automatic loading feature but I find loading a Rolleicord IV is
as fast and simpler than a Rolleiflex. Just me maybe. The Xenar
in my Rolleicord is very sharp but there is no doubt that the
Xenotar in the E is sharper. Can see it in some images under high
magnification.
