Hi Richard
Thanks for these suggestions.
Inter frame space looks fine to the naked eye - Ill try and scan it when I get back. I did load the film on the mountain side but in a shady sheltered
spot...
I guess my main worry is some shutter funny - I had assumed the shutter opened and closed like an iris but Jim mentioned the notion of a curtain -
yes I'm really revealing my expertise in this area :-).

If this is a 2.8F it has a between the lens shutter which does operate like an iris. Rollei single lens reflex cameras have focal plain shutters, none of the twin lens kind do. FP shutters can cause all sorts of symptoms but BTL shutters most often just have speed problems. It is possible for a BTL shutter to leave ghost images if it doesn't close all the way but that isn't what has happened here. I am very suspicious that a bit of paper or something similar got into the camera box and fell out when you unloaded the film. Open the camera (I am assuming it has no film in it) and inspect the insides carefully. What ever was in there may still be there but have gotten out of the light path.

I can't find a model 2.8FX in Prochnow so I better ask what it is exactly.
