The chart in the Kodak Reference Handook gives 6 months as the life
of D-76 in a stoppered bottle. I would first look at the color, D-76
should be nearly clear but a slight yellow or brown color is OK.
Secondly, I would do a clip test. Just a small scrap of film to see if
it darkens. Kodak's life values are generally conservative. It seems to
me I've used developer older than this with no problems.
