Marc: I 've been collecting Contax S, D, et al for more than 20 years and , frankly, most have been not found working well at all. Whether this is always attributable to mishandling of shutter cocking/film advance routines as Dechert asserts, is open to discussion. But, I think he's on to something. Jerry

I do respect Peter greatly as a scholar and I know his monograph and have discussed it with him. But, to the contrary, I've yet to see a Contax S that was not limping along quite well. I've never seen one which had died. I just ran my own Contax D through the chimes, and it works quite well, after all these years.Marc msmall@xxxxxxxxxxxx Cha robh bàs fir gun ghràs fir! --- Rollei List - Post to rollei_list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx- Subscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'subscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org- Unsubscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org- Online, searchable archives are available at //www.freelists.org/archives/rollei_list
