An interesting case about the coded numbering and the
manufacture year is the Rollei SL 66 SE 71039xxxx. I
know that this camera was one of the last SE
manufactured, they were manufactured from April 1986
to October 1992. 7+5= 12, there is no a year "12" for
this camera, 1+2=3, there is no a year "3" for this
camera and even considering the "wrong" way, 7+9=16,
it does not make sense.
The only explanation is that "12" is right coinciding
with the right interpretation, and then "1" represents
the change for the decade, and 2, the year 92 also
coinciding with my info that this camera was one of
the last SE manufactured.-

All the best
Carlos
