The M42 is an excellent commercial choice for Zeiss for the reason: with the appropriate adaptor one can use the M42 lenses on major DSLR. I am using a Sigma SD9 and can take advantage of the many and cheap lenses of that mount. -----Original Message----- From: Aaron Reece <oboeaaron@xxxxxxx> Date: Wed, 18 Jan 2006 22:38:35 To:rollei_list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [rollei_list] Re: Carl Zeiss issue 23 Nick: I also count myself among this group, owning only Rollei SL35 and SL35E SLRs apart from a lonely Pentax H1a. I am hoping they see fit to release the 85mm/2.8 Sonnar in M42. I own an example of this lens in QBM but it has a faulty diaphragm mechanism. Over here across the pond these lenses are as rare as hens' teeth. -Aaron On Jan 18, 2006, at 5:26 PM, Nick Roberts wrote: It IS a bit of an odd choice in many ways - there's probably only me who it suits perfectly, as I could have a set and use them on my Rolleis (SL35, SL35E, SL2000F and 3003), Contaxes (137MA, 139, 167, RTS and RX), EOS menagerie and Prakticas (for some reason, I still like them!) with adaptors I already own.
