I adapted my Rollei lenses (Zeiss as well as Rolleinar) to a Kodak DCS Pro
SLR/c, a full frame camera with Canon mount.
The results are decent. However, finding the right focus point is not easy.
Focus indication works also without chip but does not fully help because it
just gives a range of focus which is not exact enought if you shoot with f 1.4
or 2.8.
But first I realised some sort of smoothness. Result was that the sensor came
off from the glue at the back. So I have to fix it.
I also adapted the lenses to Olympus Four Thirds. Same decent results.
And I use M42 Carl Zeiss Jena lenses on my Sigma SD14/15. Decent result. Beside
the fact I also found out that the SD15 was de-adjausted and has to be fixed.

Regards

Dirk

I have a Canon 400D and bought an adapter for my Rolleiflex SL3003 lenses.
Focus confirmation chips are not available with this adapter because the
stop-down pin is where the chip contacts should be placed. A modified adapter
to take a chip could be made with a different rotation angle but then the 'top'
of the lens would be off set to one side.

I chose a Canon because it had the largest throat at the time and also had a
shorter focal register than the Rollei lenses.

I found focus with the Rollei lenses on the 400D is very difficult - the screen
is not designed for manual focus, having no micro-prism nor a 'grainy' surface.
The 400D screen is as Alan has said being of very fine texture, designed to
pass light and not to use it for focus.

With the 400D, having a small sensor requiring greater magnification, focus
becomes more critical. I tested all my lenses from wide angle to tele and macro
and tried to establish depth of field and point of focus by using a long tilted
subject. So even if the point of focus/adapter's focal register was incorrect,
something on the image should have been sharp. It wasn't, particularly so
considering Zeiss lenses. I could only put it down to the digital sensor
elements requiring a different angle of incidence for the light than is
required with film emulsion. But there may be other reasons...

I cannot comment for other camera/lens combinations.

John
