2013/8/28 PaintingWithLenses <paintingwithlenses@xxxxxxxxx>: > ..... > ....Anyway - are these real 70x70 negatives or 6x6 on a 70mm roll > (Regarding the image circle diameter of standard lenses, the tilt/shift > lenses being an exception maybe)?... The 70mm film width is 65mm to record the movie, however it is printed on a real 70mm width film; the Rollei image is always 6x6 and the Mamiya RB67 picture is always 6x7 using this film. The 120/220 film width is 60mm; some cameras can handle the width difference, other cameras can't do it. Still film cameras use the printing version with real 70mm width because in the '60s Cine Mechanics made a 70mm back for the Rollei TLR; the main problem with this back was the film width, 70mm; the Rolleiflex film guidance free space is between 69.8mm to 69.9mm and then the film was curved 0.5mm toward the lens on the film focal plane due to the lateral upsetting with effect on the picture sharpness (Rollei Report 4). Rollei considered this back an interesting design but " no recommendable" for this reason.- Carlos . --- Rollei List - Post to rollei_list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx - Subscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'subscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Unsubscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Online, searchable archives are available at //www.freelists.org/archives/rollei_list
