Yes Richard, thank you, that is my practice too, I always verify the upper 
spool is winding the paper right, I put my thumb on the lower spool with film 
retaining it softly while I advance the crank up to I confirm the first part of 
the paper is tight on the upper spool and advancing the film if I release the 
lower spool, then I close the camera back (using cameras with automat mechanism 
of course), I think something was wrong with that  specific spool and the paper 
combo when I advanced the film quickly after to close the camera back, in fact 
it required more "tests" with the thumb than usual and failed for the exact 
moment I needed it.-
