These formats seem linked. Check their Wikipedia entries for details: Kodak ceased production of 828 cameras precisely as it introduced 126 cameras. Both used 135 film stock, that for 828 being unperforated and with a paper backing, yielding a 40mm by 28mm negative. 126 film was single-perf 135 film in a rapid-load cartridge yielding a 26mm square negative. Both formats are no longer in production.

Both were intended for the bottom end of the consumer market, though the Rollei 126 and the Contaflex 126 were quality cameras with great lenses.

Both formats suffered from film-flatness issues, especially 126.
