Thanks for the info, Carlos, that fits quite well with the story I've
heard. My whole family is from the border region with Argentina, we also
have a couple of relatives there. And thanks everyone for the compliments
on the photos, I myself still marvel at them, and am slowly digitizing the
old family negatives, some of them have never been printed. With time I'll
share some more Rollei-related pictures and stories I hear.

Having worked on a few Rolleis of various ages I san say that
the basic build quality is about the same. All the shutters are
Deckel Compur and all have about the same quality. Rollei used
steel parts where some competition used brass.
The main change from the early cameras to the Automat was the
focusing means. The early cameras used a rotating gear to move
the lensboard, later cameras use a double cam arrangement. Both
are pretty rugged. Some changes were made in later cameras to
allow precision adjustment of the lens board parallelism.
I think in terms of being rugged the simpler a cameras is the
better, which gives the advantage to the Rolleicord which does
not have the automatic loading mechanism. The basic design of all
the cameras is very good.
I have been into Leica and Nikon cameras and  consider both
first class. IMO the old Leica is a very elegant design as is the
Rollei.

A 2,8 F is as well built as a Rolleicord, or vice-versa, the
differences are the features. The only difference between a 3,5 F
and a 2,8F is the taking lens, they use the same components and
we could see in a previous topic all Rollei TLR cameras share the
same basic body from the Standard.
