I've recently purchased an XV series synth to go with my Rodgers, and have been busy creating organ voices on the XV. If anyone else on the list has XV stop recipies they would like to share, please let me know. I've done a few dozen stops so far, including several very nice short reeds, a sesquialtera, cornet, tertian, celeste, and many more (and of course, the 32' stops, which come out really nice). Most recent additions are a tuba major and state trumpet (the wife and kids were out of the house while I tweaked and fiddled those). Hardest things have been a good 8' principal and some of the full length reeds (posaune 16, for example). I've come close, but they're not quite there yet. I've only begun to master the power of the editing software for the XV, and would love to share what I've found and learn from others. It'e been fun so far. The flexibility in creating 'performances' that map the patches to MIDI channels has been very nice - I can create a performance to fit the needs of a particular piece, and exploit the wonderful MIDI implementation of the Rodgers - it is really tops. The two instruments make a powerful combination indeed. Best regards. -----Original Message----- From: Robert Lemon [mailto:lemon1@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, March 12, 2003 11:38 PM To: rodgersorgan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [rodgersorgan] Update from a silent list reader Hi, I had joined a while back, don't even remember how long ago. I am on the organ committee for my church. We have a 5 rank Wicks that we have been exploring expansion options on. I have heard Dan Miller play a Rodgers 957 in Turlock California. I even attended the organist workshop there that he put on. I enjoyed that. Anyways, the organ has not been expanded. I have tried to make my case for a Rodgers with the pipes added to it. I think the best we will be doing is midifying the console and bringing the rank count to 11 or 19...not sure which. But I am afraid that making the console midi without speakers available for the midi additions is probably what will be happening. Maybe I will introduce them to a few XV-5080s and the MC-80ex. (I own a few Roland music instruments). Bob Lemon Just Published!
