Aside from using the Swell Reeds by name....they also serve as a barrage
of sound, the Swell Reed Chorus.

This is typically the 16' Reed (which may be a Bassoon, Contra Trompetta
or other 16' reed) the Swell Trumpet 4' and the Clarion (or Clairon).

Registered together they create quite a lovely sound, nice for GOD OF
OUR FATHERS.

Many add a little more edge by including Swell Mixtures...I do. And for
that grand early French sound, add 16' & 4' couplers if you've got them.
That gives you 32' pitch in all but the lowest octave, and most
fanfares don't enter that range.

In the Instant Organist (free at Frog Music Press) registration 5 is
flues full to mixtures, and the 6 brings in the Swell Reed Chorus. It
can be done all at once, but is is very stunning to close the Swell
expression shoe before pressing 6, then bringing it in gradually over an
introduction or last line....shades of England.

ALso try playing the Reed Chorus with the box closed...very soft and
effective.
