Carlo:

Javing been with Rodgers for over thrity years I can give you some update. =
When Rodgers first began the idea of the combination organ, they began a re=
lationship with the Ruffati company. Early on the combinations were called=
the "Gemini" series -- "the best of both worlds". This was of benefit to =
both companies as not only was Rodgers using the Ruffati pipes but Ruffati =
now had a representative in the states. As I remember, we had the opportun=
ity to sell Ruffati through Rodgers and several of the dealers were appoint=
ed joint representatives. That relationship lasted for about 5 or 6 years =
as I remember. While there is no official representation today, there are =
several large Rodgers dealers who are also Ruffati reps -- Los Angeles, Kan=
sas City, Washington DC area, and Boston. May be others.

Today, there is an official relationship with another Italian pipe organ co=
mpany - Pinchi. (actually pronounced Pink-ee).. I have not seen any of the=
ir work as yet but have been told that it is excellent - and they will buil=
d in the American Classic tonal frame. They are the second largest builder=
in Italy - Rufatti being the largest.

Hope this helps.

since we're on the subject of Diane Bish, I was wondering......

in 1972, when they were first starting to look for an organ for the new Cor=
al Ridge church, the organ committee traveled all over the world, including=
here to Montreal. They met and talked with one of my organ teachers (Raymo=
nd Daveluy), and Diane tried out the 5-manual Von Beckerath, mechanical-act=
ion organ....eventually deciding to go with the organ that stands there tod=
ay, the Ruffatti....a very wise decision (I think). Anyway, back then, Rodg=
ers and Ruffatti had some sore of affiliation with each other. Is that stil=
l the case today?

Were they owned by the same company?

Is it (or was it) a custom for 2 organ companies to be connected?
