Hello, again. I'm back after a brief "vacation" from the list. To refresh your memories: I live in Newark CA, which is on the east side = of San Francisco Bay. I own two Rodgers "vintage" organs: a 220, in superb = condition, and a 340, in not-so-good condition. My interests are in = playing & "tweaking" for my own enjoyment. I've been a "fan" of Rodgers = since around 1970! I've been trying to get a legible copy of the 340 = Technical manual from Rodgers, with no luck (as yet). Anybody have a copy = they want to sell? Let me know! I've notice some recent messages in the archives about Diane Bish, the = latest from Randall J. Smith. I couldn't agree more about the service she = provides to the organ community at large in keeping this glorious = instrument in the public's eye. I've not had the pleasure of hearing a = live concert of hers, but would jump at the opportunity. As a side issue, I dropped off a theatre organ list because of some very = negative postings about church organists who had degrees in music but did = not "make music" as the posters' saw it. The whole thought pattern just = makes me sick. I don't know any profession that works and trains as hard = as church musicians who get paid so little in dollars and in respect for = their talent and efforts.=20 I don't have a music degree, but everyone I've met who does knows their = stuff. I'm really tired of people who dismiss certain music or the = musician just because they don't understand that music. There's a lot of = organ music that doesn't move me (and a lot that does) --but that's = nobody's fault, nor is anyone to be denigrated for it. Either my "level" = isn't the same as the music's, or it just isn't "my cup of tea." Far be = it from me to say some musical genre is bad just because I don't care for = it. The internet, in some ways, seems to bring out the worst in people, = or, in some cases, the worst people. I'm glad, for this reason, that this list is moderated.
