Often a church when hiring goes through the usual hiring practices of a
business but that's where it stops. Annual revisions of salary, job
performance meetings and such just don't happen and within years you
have a church that is shocked when they once again have to fill the
position and find that the salary they are paying is greatly out of
date.

The American Guild of Organists has created a very accurate salary guide
with a link to another site that will give adjusted amounts based upon
where you are working.

Please visit the group web site at the address below and check out
reference links to access this information.

The basic "church job " is considered by many churches to involve 3
hours...divided between the worship service and the choir rehearsal...in
reality even a bare-bones job like this is actually 11 hours, and it
only grows from there.
