Michael:

I am involved in a church with a very contemporary service called "The
Gathering".

I don't know who you are talking about when you refer to "entertainment
music". WORSHIP is our main focus --leading our church family in meaningful
worship, whether traditional or contemporary. Please understand, not
everyone is moved in worship by the same things. Some people still think
that classical organ music and traditional choirs is the only way, others do
not. Believe it or not, praise music can be very worshipful, however, I have
heard some real trash.

Yesterday, we did a very contemporary piece called "Why?". It was sung by a
young woman and accompanied by piano and cello. It was extremely moving to
young and old alike. Please have an open mind. As church musicians we have
a responsibility to reach all worshippers. I will continue to play all kinds
of music, and continue to strive to find the best ways to lead "my family" in
worship.

Cathy Blanchard
