Manual 16' stops seem like an awful waste...they are used so rarely.

Some of this is because we don't really know how to use them.  Voiced to 
the right level, they can add a certain gravity to a string celeste 
without overpowering it...at the same time, they can serve to provide a 
easy running bass line when the 16th notes and your feet don't get along.

Also, they come in real handy when you don't have a 1' Fife...use the 
16' flute and the 2' and play up an octave.
