I am just becoming familiar with the intricacies of the MIDI system while having to create the Invisible Organist for "Lift High the Cross." I read Noel Hs message with interest and did a little research and experimentation. Here is what I found. Set + Cancel (0) sends nothing to the organ. Cancel (0) + Set sends what I have come to call "Organ Clear" F0 41 10 30 12 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 7F F7 for all you bit-heads. Basically, this command turns off (resets) any MIDI changes made since the organ was powered up, so the Voice Palette will revert to the power-up state (all stops to the knob name unless changed in the power up default) I then went back to my 577 manual AND the errata. Sure enough all through the manual it refers to Set + Cancel (0) to clear the organ. But then the errata addresses every one of them and changes them to Cancel (0) + Set. So at least on my 577 the manual with corrections is correct. So of course being in the business of creating MIDI files, I must point out before I close that if you don't want to "waste" one of your pistons on a reset, and you can't remember the key sequence you can always use a MIDI file (pop a disk in the PR-300 and it will reset the organ). While I say this somewhat in jest, if there is any interest at all, I will give such a file to Noel and he can post it on the web site.
