The names of candidates were generated by members of CCSE (Coalition for Common
Sense in Education) & a committee representing the NY Performance Standards
Consortium.

What input have the young people in committees had in finding a name?

We didn't expect any of the names to be a major problem; but apparently it
is. I'll have to discuss that with the petitioon originators & get back
to you. Thanks for the feedback, Tom.

Dan-What if there is a name on the list that one does not support and
feels
strongly against? That is my problem--Tom

OK, everyone. We're going to try again with this petition for a NYS
Education Commissioner who reflects our values for education reform. The last
one didn't quite say everything our New York City colleagues wanted, nor did
it include a candidate they also wanted to endorse. Please note that we realize
that our list of candidates may not be perfect, but we do believe that it gives
supporters of our education reform aganda the best chance reaching our vision of
equitable and socially just schools. We ask that you "google" and
research the candidates if you need to and hope that you'll eventually sign
the petition so that we can deliver it to the Board of Regents and other power
brokers who will impact the selection of the new commissioner.

I also ask that you send this petition on to any other individuals or groups
that you belong to who might support our goals and recommenjded list of
candidates.

So...please click on the link below for the new petition.

Thanks.

Dan Drmacich
