THE STORYTELLERS Sheila Kay Adams is a seventh generation balladeer from Appalachia. Festival favorites Charlotte Blake Alston, an outstanding storyteller of the African-American tradition and Grammy-winner Bill Harley return this year. From Minnesota, NPR commentator Kevin Kling joins us with wry stories of his childhood and adult life. And Motoko will bring to life Japanese stories. KIDS' CONCERT New this year: On Sunday, May 20, from 1:00-2:00 PM in Badger Tent: Kids of every age will go on a rollicking journey while listening to stories and songs performed by Bay Area storytellers: Kate Frankel (SAAC Service Award honoree), Kathy Martinez, David Ponkey, Pam Brown, and Linda Yemoto. Two dollars admission. Children under 2 free. Stay the rest of the day and listen to other storytellers and musicians or run wild with the kids under the trees on the grass or on the playground. 5. WORKSHOPS There is still space available in Sheila Kay Adam and Willy Claflin's workshop, "Two Part Harmony: A Musical Conversation" which is being held Friday, May 18, at the Rockridge Branch of the Oakland Public Library from 9:00 AM to Noon. Saturday, May 29, Charlotte Blake Alston leads a workshop at Kennedy Grove: "Music and Story in Partnership," which is included in the day's events, so if you have an all day pass or all weekend pass, you can go.
