Always best to mix on monitors if you can smile. Otherwise you may for example, mix pads too loud on headphones. I know of drummers who aren't bothering to mic up kits any more. They are using Superior Drummer 2 instead. Roy wrote: just curious , which monitors do you use in the studio? Phil replied: a couple of active Yamaha MSp5 near field monitors. They seem to have enough bass for me to do what I do. Actually, the truth when mixing with any kind of monitor is that you know what it sounds like. Mind you, I know you know that Roy as I have heard some of your stuff and it sounds great! Programmed up some brushed drums in Superior Drummer 2. You can listen to them here: http://www.accessibilitytraining.co.uk/brushes.html Also, done a comparison between Superior Drummer 2 and the old Drum Kit From hell. Link is here: http://www.accessibilitytraining.co.uk/superior.html The first track in the flash player is the old DFH, followed by the same track with the drums in Superior Drummer 2.
