Make sure the scanner will scan properly from the Brother software in 
Windows.  Better check device manager from the hardware tab under system in 
control panel.  If you have a category called other and your scanner is 
listed there then the drivers haven't been installed properly.   If it 
appears they are installed properly make sure it's in the scanner selection 
list in Openbook.  You can get to this by pressing alt A for advanced, then 
down arrowing to scanner selection and pressing enter.
