It's not random. When you swipe up the cursor moves to the left when you delete, and visa versa if you swipe down. Once you get used to it its okay. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sarah Jevnikar" <sarah.jevnikar@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <real-eyes@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, February 22, 2011 9:46 AM Subject: [real-eyes] Re: iPhone editing Hi Jen, It took me some time to figure this one out, so I'll save you the trouble. When you're in an edit field, use the roter function to switch between options. I've found that the best way is to do the roter gesture until you hear words, then swipe up (for the previous word), or down for the next one. Once you're on the word you wish to edit, do the roter gesture counterclockwise once. You should hear characters. Now when you swipe up and down, you'll move to the previous or next character, respectively. You can edit this way by adding characters by typing once you're at a place you wish to change, or by double tapping on the delete key. What I can't figure out is when you're typing, where are characters inserted? Anyone know? I just tried a test file as a note, and found that insertion was happening before and after the characters I had in focus, and I'm not sure what the delete key removes: the letter you're on or the one before it. Which is echoed? Things seemed to change at random. I know this isn't completely helpful, Jenn, but it might be a start. The Viphone list is helpful, but so high traffic that it can be hard to keep up. Which is why it can be difficult to receive a reply. I mean like see what you have typed, and insert characters in different places? Can we read by letter? Sorry for the post here, I am just having problems getting the VIPhone list to help me. You guys are awesome! Thank you so much! Jenn "I am not as good as I should be, I am not as good as I could be, but THANK GOD I am better than I used to be!"
