You might try NVDA with Firefox 5, if you are unable to update Jaws.
NVDA is free and uses many of the same keyboard commands as Jaws.
You can download NVDA at
www.nvda-project.org
You may want to set the voice to one of your liking, press insert n to
get into the settings. I prefer the espeak english us clat3 voice to the
standard espeak voice but that is just a matter of my choice.
