Hi, first of all, by default, a three finger double tap will mute the speech. Another three finger double tap turns the speech back on. No hunting around the screen is ever necessary. This does not disengage Voiceover, it merely mutes the speech. Standard Voiceover gestures are still in effect even though the speech is muted. To turn Voiceover off correctly, for example, to play one of the many way cool games such as ZanyTouch, you need to configure the Home button so that pressing it 3 times will unload Voiceover from memory so that standard gestures will work. Pressing the Home button again 3 times turns Voiceover back on. Go to Settings, General, Accessibility, Voiceover, and one of the last items on this screen will be to configure the Home button as described. Thanks. -----Original Message----- From: Kimberly A. Currently whenever I inadvertently tap the wrong part of the screen and the speech goes off, it's a really difficult task to get it back on again. You have to keep tapping around until you tap just the right portion of the screen. Is there a better way, and if so, how do you set it up and how does it work? Thanks, Kim Kimberly A.
