Hey what are you doing around 11:30? If you give me your number and you're
willing to help me out, I would really appreciate it. Let me know. I'm dying to
know how to do this. The default voice drives me crazy, too.

Kim

Hi Kim,

The only one in there by default is US English. Personally I use the
Australian voice Karen because I find her clearer and more interesting. You
must however go into settings/general/accessibility/voice over/language roader,
and add the other choices that you want. ?while under voice over be sure to
add volume and speech rate as well. If this is as clear as mud, let me know
and we can speak.

Reg

Okay, Reg, I think I located the rodor. If I turn my two fingers, the choices
are language, words, or characters. Now, once I stop, for example, at
"language", I don't see any menu choices for the "language" topic. How do I
then get to and select the choice I want?

Thanks,

Kim

The roader is available everywhere. But the options available change depending
on where you are. In edit fields you have typing mode, which you can switch to
touch typing for a more natural experience. You can also add voiceover volume
to the roader in settings. Edit is usually one of the choices, which let's you
flick down with one finger to options like select all, cut, copy, and paste.
In my Thumb Jam musical program there is something called direct touch in the
roader, which allows me to play the piano on the play area section of the
screen without turning off voice over.
Just spin your fingers on the screen like you are playing Wheel of Fortune or
something. Even holding one finger still and spinning your thumb is usually
good enough.

I'm not intimidated by the rotor; I simply haven't been able to locate/activate
it yet. I'm dying to get it working.

That involves turning the roader to characters, then flicking down or up
with one finger. A lot of people are intimidated by the imaginary roader.
I just take my index finger and thumb, place them far apart on the screen,
and spin them counter clockwise till I get to what I want.

I see that the complete text of my message never made it to the list. My
question: How do I spell words out, letter by letter, while reading text
with Voice Over?

Thanks,

Kim
