I will be using outlook on the new computer since I'm sticking with XP for a
while longer.

The Export wizard in Outlook Express works beautifully to transfer
messages into Outlook on the same computer.
The files and settings wizard in Windows XP appears to assist in
transferring message rules and other settings in Outlook Express but
unfortunately not messages.
To successfully get all current messages from Outlook Express on to a
new computer, the method will depend on which mail program will be used
on the new PC.

If Windows 7 is being used, then chances are that you may be planning to
use Windows Live Mail.
Thunderbird is also a good choice, but the question is, what email
program do you plan to use on the new computer?

There is a file and settings transfer wizard built into Windows 7 and XP

that can be used to transfer all that stuff. Maybe someone else has
used it
more recently than I have. I wonder if it's gotten any better. I know
it
can work.

Hi all! I'm planning to get a new computer this week. However, I have
tons
of email messages in several personal folders, and I don't want to lose
them. Is there a way I can save them and put them on my external hard
drive
and move them onto my new computer? What about my favorites from
Internet
Explorer? I don't want to lose those either. Thanks in advance!
With a smile,
Karen
