I've been wanting to find out more on Pocket Talk, do you have a web site,
and some thoughts on pros and khans with the Stream?

As far as editing internally, no luck. The Book Sense does not allow for
copy/paste/delete. It does allow you to place marks in the recordings, if I
understood that correctly. As far as I know, the best on-board editing
capabilities are on the Pocket Talk.

One thing I really like about the Pocket Talk is that your recordings are in
DAISY format so you can add and remove all kinds of navigation features
during and/or after the recording session. If you only want to audio files,
then you simply copy the MP3 files from the DAISY book folder of the memory
card.

The presenters did not say if the Neo Speak voices are the standard ones or
some modified version, but I'm guessing a modified version. However, they
sure sounded like Kate and Paul to me.

They didn't spend a lot of time on the recording feature, but I'm hoping it
does as well as the Pocket Talk.
As
Far as the speakers go, it did sound pretty good when the presenter simply
held it up to the microphone. Most of the time they had the unit connected
to a port via an audio cable to allow better sound quality and volume
control. This is the way I would have done it too.

Maybe I can do a presentation comparing the Stream, Pocket Talk, and Book
Sense once I have some time to learn the new toy. I think they are all
going to be great options.

I am definitely interested. I would like to have some capability to edit
recordings internally, as far as deleting marked sections of files and so
on. I wonder if this is in the software yet. Also I wonder if it's using
the standard SAPI5 Neospeech voices, or if it's a customized version. This
would open the possibility of getting other voices in the future. Also I'm
sure the speakers sound great. When you get yours Robert I hope you can
bring it to a meeting.

The Book Sense is not a device for browsing the internet or downloading
books. It is a book reader, document reader, media player, FM radio (XT
version only), and talking clock/alarm. It is not a PDA or cell phone. It
is like the Victor Reader Stream and Pocket Talk in that regard.

What I don't see in these notes is this: Can the Book Sense go
online or is it, like the victor, merely a vessel for downloaded
material?

Thanks,
