Yes, web mail access is through outlook.com, but there is nothing
Outlook 365 on my PC, just Thunderbird. Those are my only two options
for work email. Can you please explain to me this Light version. I'm
dense. What is it that is changed? Something on my PC?

So, if you are accessing your work email through Outlook.com, which you had
suggested that you may be using if you have Office 365, there is a very
critical change to the Outlook interface  that can be done to have it be
completely Jaws accessible.
It is possible that someone from your IT department may assist you in
changing to the Light version, it is much easier to use and it really does
make sense when you are familiar with the Jaws quick navigation keys for the
web.

I have seen people make the change, and it truly will make a profound
difference in your web mail access.

I have thought about it, but I’m getting to an age where learning something
new isn’t really as easy as it used to be.  I don’t even know how to go
about getting NVDA or learning it. And JAWS is what my company provides and
supports. It makes me anxious to think about it.

Hi Suzanne.  I highly recommend that you use NVDA with your windows7
machine.  I have jaws version 15, and NVDA works much better with my
computer then does jaws.

Thank you, Jim. I was using Google Chrome and Jaws 13 very well with the
XP.
It just seems a little more problematic with windows seven. I can still
access my time card website just fine, though. The other alternative for
work mail  is  office 365 webmail which doesn’t appear to be accessible
whatsoever. Or very hdifficult at the very least.

Unfortunately, JAWS 13 is all my company will give me because supposedly
it’s what works best with their typing platform.  I may just request
they
also give me 18 and just have to switch back-and-forth.   Suzanne

1. Where do I find "My Computer" and "my documents" equivalent to
access/add files like I did with XP?
Hello. You should be able to tap the Windows key, type in Documents, it
should be the first result.  If you press enter on that, it should take
you right to your documents folder. Also, you may try typing in
Computer
into the Windows 7 Search Box, and this will hopefully bring up
Computer,
which should give you access to the C drive.
Alternatively, you can type the Windows Key and E and get direct access
to
Windows Explorer.

2.  How do I change setting so that .rtf files will always open in
Word Pad instead of Microsoft Word Viewer?
Select an RTF file. Use the applications key to arrow down and see if
there is an option for Open With.  If you enter on that, you should see
a
list of compatible programs that will open the Word file, and
hopefully,
there will be acheckbox to Always use this program.  I hope this is
still
in Windows 7.
3. How do I log into GMail from Google Chrom? I can enter email
address, but the password field doesn't appear to be accessible?
Jaws 13 will not support Google Chrome.
4.  Is latest Thunderbird accessible? It is my new email client for
work
and I can’t figure out how to read emails.
Again, Jaws 13 is less likely to work with more contemporary versions
of
most programs, unfortunately, it may be highly problematic to have Jaws
13
work well with Thunderbird.
