Subject: Visit?
Hi, My name is Barry Wheeler, of Flora, IN. My home is bounded on the west by
the remaining trackage of the Vandalia RR that came to be the PRR mainline
from Chicago to Indianapolis. I don’t have a layout, nor don’t plan to
besides running track on our living room carpet. What I do have is a son in
Midlothian. As we have three great-granddaughters in the Old Dominion with
another due in April, we do try to visit them now and then. The mention of
Midlothian prompted my note.
I’ve picked up most of the locos that I only drooled over in the Lionel
catalogs of the late 1940s plus I replaced my dowdy 2-4-2 with the full sized
Ives 1700 series cars that made up my first train set at age six. (I’m 83
now.) It would be nice to have a place to visit in the Richmond area that is
train related. We don’t travel in the winter. But as was mentioned above, we
will have a reason to visit this spring. If anyone should wish to show off
their own layouts or simply talk trains, perhaps something could be arranged.
Have a pleasant winter working on your projects. We haven’t been to the
Museum since our grandchildren were little, but enjoyed our visits there. But
that was before your layout arrived. Good luck, and thanks for listening. BW.
(Of course, my road is the PRR.)
