The Main Street Marketplace is an in-progress project to turn the train shed
and the space below it into a marketplace similar to the 17th Street Farmers'
Market. The reason is that the City is turning the Farmers' Market into a
plaza/piazza for folks to meander/promenade/roam while deciding where to dine
around there. There will be limited space for farmers to sell their produce.
There will be space in the new marketplace at the station for truck farmers and
other vendors. Currently the track level of the trainshed has been overhauled
for use as a meeting/reception/dinner venue. The ground level will be the
marketplace, with Grace Street to be cut through for vehicular traffic.
All of the above was the initial plan; as we all know with the City, their
plans tend to be written on an Etch-a-Sketch unless it involves a brewery or
java joint.

I really wish you guys would quit scheduling things for the 2nd Saturday. That
is open house day in Ashland, except for November.

I got a call this afternoon after the Main Street Station had their meeting

invited by the group putting this event together. I will share details at the
meeting on Saturday. Big opportunity for a new venue.

Hi Chris,
My name is Susan Kennedy, and I am on the planning committee for the “Grand
Illumination Marketplace” on December 1, 2017 at the Main Street Station in
Richmond. I was looking at your website and was wondering if you know of anyone
who has a miniature train display that would be interested in being part of
this amazing event.
If so, please contact me by email or call me at (804) 523-3329
<tel:(804)%20523-3329> .
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Susan Kennedy
