I skimmed the rules and had no idea they actually had formal rules published. However, these were written for vendors. Technically I think we would be classified as an exhibitor. I didn't see any rules for exhibitors so I think the Fair could cherry pick which rules they wanted to apply to us. At least they didn't ask for the $100 cleanup deposit.

From experience dealing with them years ago, the bottom line its their rules to interpret (or make up on the fly) as they see fit. You either abide by their rules or don't participate. I don't see the point in arguing about any of this.

I do not ever recall being told there were rules we had to follow.?? We are not a typical "inside vendor" and I believe the reason they asked us back was likely due to fair goer demand.?? If we were that big a pain, I can think of no other reason they would want us back.?? If they held us to the implied sq. ft. limitations, all we could take would be the 4 corners and maybe the??raffle layout, and that would not be worth anyone's time.?? When the request for input was distributed, I was not in favor, but if you guys need help setting up or taking down, I am willing to come help.

Fair Rules <http://chesterfieldcountyfair.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/21/2016/03/Indoor-Vendor-Packet.pdf>

By agreeing to display at the Fair, we were always agreeing to abide by their rules. How many of you old timers had actually read these? I had not. Yes, we */were/* receiving $500 to appear as opposed to paying the Fair to be there. This was negotiated to $750 starting this year. They have always regarded us a "Inside Vendors". We stepped all over their square footage limitations. The 12x15 layout takes up 2.25x the square footage normally allotted per vendor. Vendors normally receive only two passes. Because we are rotating people, providing us 24 tickets is a major concession on their part. Vendors have the opportunity to buy up to 20 tickets @ $7/ea. before the Fair opens.

Despite the hurt feelings in the past, they do really want us to be there.

We are not vendors. We aren't selling anything. If anything we are contract employees. We are performing a task for them.
