I wonder if it has to do with that I think Armbian set up my user as a root
user by default.
The spd-say error says it cannot connect to
/home/lenny/.cache/speech-dispatcher/speech.conf
I tried to go there and look at things, and I got into .cache, but it did
not allow me into the speech-dispatcher without sudo.

On my desktop, Orca's user config is stored in ~/.local/share/orca
though I have no idea how you would go about setting what tts to use
through editing files there in.
And while I'm pretty sure Orca is using espeak-ng on my system, I
don't have the espeak-ng package installed... I do have espeak-ng-data
and speechdispatcher-espeak-ng installed and I believe the espeak-ng
package is only needed if I want to use espeak-ng directly.
Admittedly, things might be different on the Pi, and I've never
actually tried to get Orca running on a Pi.
