Well that is good to know, especially if it does not give as much access to
the operating system as speakup, and my who point of looking into it is to
have an alternative to speakup or fenrir.

As much as emacs. I am definitely not going to get into the editor wars but
many people use Emacs as their editor, word processor, web browser, email
client etc. It is a massive power editor. That is why someone built a
screen reader into it. It is not really a screen reader either. They call
it a audible desktop because it doesn't work like any other audible
interface you have ever used. It is worth learning if your going to be a
programmer or you have a lot of writing to do.

Does it take a lot of memory?
I mean, does it have to be run in X?
Or is it as memory intensive as a desktop?

Emacspeak is a full speech desktop. It is a lot to learn. Go out and
search for the emacspeak manual and that should give you an idea.

Hi Tait,
What will installing
emacspeak / tdsr / ssh
do for me?
That reminds me, I have wondered if eMacSpeak is a full screenreader, or if
it is just a limited tool.
Thanks
Glenn

No need for a startup script on boot. The speakup kernel mode module is
available for the RPi. It may even be as easy as `apt install speakup`.
It only speaks at one speed, but it gives you a basic interface to start
with. You can install emacspeak / tdsr / ssh from there.
